HVAC equipment producer prices: flat in September, still up 5.7% from a year ago (2 minute read)
BLS's producer price index for air-conditioning, refrigeration and forced-air heating equipment makers rose 0.16% in September and sits 5.7% above a year earlier, per data released Oct. 15. It's up about 42% since September 2021. Economy-wide final demand jumped 1.3% (seasonally adjusted), the biggest monthly gain since March 2022, which Homepros ties mostly to energy. A quiet month for equipment still leaves fixed-price replacement quotes chasing higher costs.

HUMXN Research Labs (Oct. 13) says it will acquire and license $50M of real-world data from trades, farm and manufacturing businesses for AI and robotics training: service records, repair histories, job-site photos, manuals and training videos. It also pays about $20 per approved hour of wearable-camera footage and says it de-identifies customer data. Homepros (Oct. 17) also points to micro1's $1B, 12-month data-buying pledge. Winsupply (Oct. 14) named Ken Resuta, a 35-year Ferguson veteran, to launch independent Winsupply Local Companies in Greater Philadelphia. They'll stock plumbing, HVAC, hydronics and PVF for residential and commercial contractors. Once proven there, the model becomes the blueprint for other large U.S. metros.
